  • You can’t go wrong with Cuisinart. We had a different one (good brand) that chewed up the paper label which was very messy and got into whatever you were opening. This one is very easy to use and works slick as a ribbon. Great product, buy it……..

  • A manual can opener is easier to use than this one. It is tedious to position the can exactly as it must be for the blade to penetrate. Even then the blade may not penetrate until the can has rotated some distance. In many/most cases it will strip the top of the label on the can, ocassionally dropping some of it into the can’s contents. About half the time when removing the can from the opener the sharpening assembly will come off in your hand making you put down the can to replace it.

I hate this thing, and hate is not too strong a word in this case.

  • Good quality, smooth operation, sturdy can opener. Looks sleek on the counter. No holding of the can required. Automatic stop when finished. Would recommend.

  • I was forced to replace our 13 year-old Black & Decker can opener after the plastic handle fatigued and broke off. That old opener worked as it should every time, but this new one does not.

This is quite strange, considering that the mechanisms look to be quite similar. I would have thought that lifting the handle then placing the can below the blade on the handle would be an easy task. It’s not on this new Cuisinart. The can has to be carefully and precisely placed against the opening mechanism, making sure that the blade is placed properly at the edge of the can. With certain types of cans this has taken me as much as five or six attempts before the mechanism will engage. I would not buy this can opener if I had it to do over.

There is one redeeming feature to this opener: the blade assembly is the easiest to remove for cleaning of any electric opener I’ve ever seen. That is not enough to compensate for its shortcomings though. Buy something else, I’d say.
